Baby Week is an initiative aimed at bringing sectors and services together to promote the ‘best start’ in life; support parents, carers and families; promote good health and wellbeing and celebrate babies! This year’s theme is ‘Strengths and Struggles’. 

Many of the events and activities taking place during the week are either low cost or free! Yay! 

 

The programme of events can be found on our new website: www.babyweek.co.uk – which is having its final few changes! We hope you like it. Many of our event planners are finalising details of locations / timings so please be patient with us, next week - there will be many more events added to the page including a few fantastic and baby-friendly film screenings!

The Return of Rhyme Time!
This free and fun 12 week course run by Leeds City College and Swinnow Children’s Centre returns next Friday. This is a great way to meet new people and make props so singing with your children is much more fun . There is a free creche for younger children. We are taking bookings for the next baby massage 4 week course with Jane.

Summer break 2021 - Our family outreach worker Jane is on site over the summer, she is available by contacting 378 3100.  Please do get in touch if you are struggling, need signposting to activities or services or are just in need of a chat and a suggestion. 
Jane is available Monday to Thursday 9-4pm for phone calls and the centre is open for midwife clinics by appointment. 
The centre will be closed week commencing 2nd August but you can send us a message on facebook or leave an answer machine message and we will get back to you as soon as we can.

Exciting news - we now have a ramp to access the children's centre - we are so pleased with the improved access to the centre and look forward to welcoming you back to services over the coming weeks.
      
We are now beginning to be able to have families back in the centre with covid restrictions and safety measures followed.   Please keep checking here and face book for our groups and activities.
Midwife clinics will continue to run at the centre in the usual way. 
Adults will be required to wear a facemask inside, unless exempt, numbers will be limited and all activities will need to be booked and follow track and trace guidance.

Online workshop for families with children under 12 - 'Understanding children’s behaviour'

Find out what might be driving your child’s behaviour and help them manage their feelings so that family life runs more smoothly.

Supporting children’s learning and wellbeing

In these difficult circumstances, balancing children’s broader developmental needs alongside home schooling can be a challenge for parents as well as workers and volunteers in various settings. This free online session will explore a range of approaches to this, drawing on ideas from the fields of education and family support. It will be a chance to find out more about Foundation Degrees in Learning and TeachingSpecial Educational Needs and Disability and Child and Family Studies; part-time courses for adults working or volunteering with children or families.
